My name is William Johnson and let me just say thank you for taking an interest in Letters In Lockdown and for visiting my little piece of the internet. None of this would be possible without all of you and I have been humbled by your response and moved by your stories! May you all find peace in these times of unrest!
How it started and what I hope to accomplish.

Why I Decided To Start This
When all of this started (Covid-19), I became very interested in the history of not only pandemics but of all sorts of crises that humans have been subjected to over the past few centuries. I started researching a myriad of events spanning the last 300-400 years around the world. Everything from genocide and unjustified wars to global economic crises and, of course, pandemics. I noticed almost immediately that throughout all these catastrophes and world events there was something missing. Something that in my view is absolutely fundamental to our understanding of what people went through during these times of tragedy, hardship and fear and that's their stories, your stories, our stories!
This is where you come in
I want to know your story and I think the world deserves to know your story as well. Everything you have been going through good or bad, how you are feeling and why, how this is effecting you mentally and physically, if you think it’s a hoax and why, if you think it is more serious than we are being told and why. No judgement, no partisanship, no taking your words out of context and spinning them one way or the other. Regardless of what you do, weather you are a nurse on the front lines or a high school senior who will not get to walk for your diploma this year I want to tell the world your story. My goal is to build up a library of letters, art, photos and videos to compliment the actual publications.
What we can accomplish
I will be publishing a book or series of books with on online library of every story we receive that will cover many different world events as seen through the eyes of those who lived it. I wanted to start as soon as possible so I am starting with the Covid-19 pandemic since it is happening right now and the emotions and reality of it is still fresh on everyone’s minds, but the goal is to also reach out on other events as far back as I can, hopefully finding those who are still living to tell their stories while researching to find any stories that are sitting untold .
